Spreading the nuts – a healthy “nutella”

I don’t know how this happened, but,  on the previous platform of my blog,  I had a post of an excellent, yummy, healthy and easy-to-make healthy “nutella” and now it’s been lost! But, hey, that’s an opportunity to update it a bit and share it again with you, right?

This recipe is exactly the same as that by Deliciously Ella, but I just have to keep it here cos its so good and, in this way, you and I will have an easy access, right? Believe me, once you try this, you will never again need to: 1. buy industrial Nutella; 2. buy Fererro-Rocher chocolates .

So, to make 1 full jar, you will need:

  • 380 grams hazelnuts (raw or roasted)
  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoon raw cacao powder

If you are using raw hazelnuts, start by grilling them in the oven at 180°C for about ten minutes. Then take them out and let them to cool. Ideally, remove the skins by rubbing them gently with your hands. Obviously, if you have bought roasted ones, skip this entire step.

Once the hazelnuts are cool, put them in a food processor and blend them. While blending, first they will break down, then form a powdery paste, and, in the end, a hazelnut butter will form. And this is what you need! Then add the maple syrup and the cacao, and re-blend just for a bit, enough to combine them with the mass.

Et voilà! Healthy sweet cravings, you are now very welcome!
